Christmas Altoids Tin Crafts
Altoid mint tins are the perfect size to hold small treats or toys, useful items, or wallet-sized photos and gift cards. The 3 3/4-inch by 2 3/8-inch tins can hang on a Christmas tree as an ornament, be tucked into a stocking, tied onto a larger gift or given as is. Crafters can cover the tins with paper, fabric, paint and other craft materials to create a one-of-a-kind project.

Advent Countdown
-
Make an Advent gift box for a child to count down to Christmas with a little treat each day of December. Trace the top of the Altoid tin onto plain paper and cut the paper out. Write the numbers from 1 to 25 on the paper. Or, you may want to place 25 Christmas stickers on the top paper and write a number on each sticker. Glue the paper onto the top of the tin. Fill the tin with 25 small gifts, such as wrapped candies, stickers or age-appropriate toys. Have the child use a marker to mark off a number on top of the box each day beginning Dec.1, and take out a treat or gift from inside the box.
Gift Card Holder
-
Place gift cards, gift certificates or even cash inside a decorated mint tin. Paint the tin with craft paints. Glue on some small holly leaves, plastic candy canes or other Christmas items. Place the gift cards or certificates inside. Tie a ribbon around the tin and form a bow. Tie a loop of ribbon close to the bow if you wish to hang the tin on the Christmas tree.

Picture Treasures
-
Glue small squares of fabric or heavy paper onto the tin until it is covered. Be sure not to glue the lid and base together. Put several wallet-sized pictures inside a clear plastic picture holder. Place the picture holder inside the tin to give as a Christmas gift.
Party Favors
-
Make holiday favors for Christmas gatherings. Kids will enjoy covering the bottom and tops of tins with plain paper, then using craft stamps to decorate the paper. Use colored pencils or markers to color in the stamped designs if desired. For a more elegant look, cover the tin with gold or another color of foil wrapping paper. Glue a small bow to the outside of the lid. Fill the decorated tins with small candles, Christmas mints, a deck of cards or small tree ornaments for adults. Kids will appreciate crayons, soft candies, Christmas shaped erasers or a tiny stuffed Santa or reindeer.
Christmas Cards
-
Give a one-of-a-kind Christmas card to special friends or family members. Cover a tin with Christmas-patterned paper or fabric, or paint the tin with Christmas colors. Trace the shape of the tin's lid onto a recycled Christmas card, centering the card's image. Cut out the shape and glue it onto the outside of the lid. Place a folded Christmas newsletter or a small gift inside the tin to give as a keepsake holiday card.
