Beach-themed VBS Crafts
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an outreach ministry event typically conducted annually for those in the Protestant faith (such as Baptist). It usually is held when children are out of school for the summer. A theme often is chosen each year and can include the beach, as this is a time when many families trek to scenic locations for vacation. VBS crafts center around the theme chosen.

VBS participants engage in a many activities in the span of approximately two hours. This leaves only a short period for the craft portion, typically no more than 30 minutes per day for a one-week event period. The age ranges of participants don't always allow for difficult or detailed craft creations, making decorating items the more likely choice for VBS craft activities.
Sun Visors

Beach-theme crafts can include sun visor decorating. Plastic sun visors offer more durability and easy decorating for VBS participants. They provide a sturdier material than cloth visors and are less expensive than leather visors. A visor craft project likely will serve as a VBS reminder in the future as the accessory can be used year after year.
Glues, colored paints and other materials used to decorate VBS beach visors will not cause allergic reactions to the wearer as can happen with some craft projects. And you can choose to add the pre-cut foam letters "WWJD" (What would Jesus do) instead of messier paints for the younger children.

Boys and girls participating in VBS will be willing to create a beach-themed necklace when leather is used instead of filigree or other more feminine materials. Using leather strips to make the beach necklace allows for easy sizing based upon each child's neck circumference instead of a one-size-fits-all store approach. Leather can be purchased and cut in the sizes needed. No fasteners are needed, helping younger participants complete the project and fasten their necklaces later. Colored small beads can be added for age-appropriate participants, with larger accessories for smaller children.

Your VBS beach-themed crafts should include decorating a pair of flip-flops. Each child will likely make a trek to a swimming pool or beach during the summer days following their VBS beach week-long event, so flip-flops will serve a useful purpose and help them retain fond memories. Purchase inexpensive colorful fake flower petals from a craft shop or fake floral material department at an inexpensive retailer for use on the toe separator section for girls. Have youths adorn the flip-flops with art paint, glitter, ribbons made into bows or their own drawing designs.
