In Lexington, JSCC offers courses in professional and technical studies with some leading to associate degrees. The school divisions include professional and technical studies, the arts subdivision and the sciences subdivision. Its nursing program prepares students to practice in health care facilities such as hospitals, clinics and home health, extended-care and rehabilitation facilities.
Elite College of Cosmetology

Licensed by the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology, Elite offers courses that train students for careers as salon owners, make-up artists, color technicians, nail technicians, corrective make-up artists and hairstylists. Founded in 1997, prospective students need to be at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED.

Within 20 miles of Lexington, Lane was founded by the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church in 1882 as a school for blacks. The private school still is affiliated with local churches and grants bachelor's degrees in many areas, including business, social and behavioral sciences, liberal studies and education, nature and physical sciences. The school also has a variety of athletics programs such as football, basketball, softball, baseball, tennis and volleyball.
Lambuth University

In Jackson, Lambuth University is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and provides bachelor's degrees in business, liberal arts and education. Founded in 1843 as the Memphis Conference Female Institute, Lambuth is now co-ed. Lambuth also has many athletic teams including baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer and tennis.
