Native American Indian Scholarships

A higher education can lead to a more successful future for many students. Several foundations offer scholarships to qualified Native American students to help them meet their educational goals. Scholarships are available for high school seniors, undergraduates and graduates who demonstrate a financial need.

  1. American Indian College Fund

    • The American Indian College Fund offers scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. Under the Special Scholarship Fund, students can receive financial assistance to attend either a traditional or tribal college. Awards are funded by the American Indian College Fund and given based on need or merit. To apply, the student must provide an official transcript, verification of tribal enrollment or proof of descent, a financial analysis, a letter of recommendation and a recent photo, according to the American Indian College Fund.

Association on American Indian Affairs Scholarships

    • The Association on American Indian Affairs offers several scholarships to Native Americans. For example, the Adolph Van Pelt scholarship provides $1,500 each school year to qualified applicants. To qualify, the student must be in a federally recognized tribe and meet merit standards. The association also offers special circumstance scholarships for students who are not in a federally recognized tribe or students who need emergency funding.

    American Indian Education Foundation

    • The American Indian Education Foundation awards more than 200 scholarships each year. The foundation awards traditional and emergency scholarships to undergraduates and graduates seeking higher education at an accredited school. Students can receive up to $2,000 a year providing they have documentation of tribal enrollment, meet merit qualifications and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.

    DAR National Society Scholarship

The DAR American Indian Scholarship provides up to $2,000 each year to students who demonstrate a financial need and meet merit qualifications.
