Favor Ideas for a Country Wedding

Add a spark of fun and creativity to your wedding favors.

Country weddings offer an abundance of natural beauty in a relaxing, serene environment. The theme of this wedding style also lends itself to many opportunities for creating unique, country inspired party favors. With a little creativity and imagination, you can bring an element of the countryside to your wedding guests' tables through these favor ideas for a country wedding.

  1. Overall Theme

    • The overall direction and theme of your country wedding should be reflected in the party favors you select. If you're featuring a dude ranch theme, miniature cowboy hats filled with soft canvas sacks of honey-roasted almonds would be appropriate; a country wildflower theme might include personalized terracotta pots filled with packets of wildflower seeds; if you're going for an earthy "back-to-nature" feel, consider rustic wood frames, miniature bird houses or small watering cans filled with sweet treats.

    Local Vendors

    • Local artisans and farmers can offer a wide variety of unique handmade goods that make ideal favors for a country wedding. Consider handmade soaps or beeswax candles; locally produced honey, jams or jellies; homemade fudge; maple syrup or maple sugar candy or even locally made pottery. If you're in Amish country, you may have access to delicious breads and other baked goods.

    Match Your Reception

    • If you're hosting an outdoor country wedding reception, work your favors into the fun. For example, if you're planning a campfire, festively wrapped s'mores ingredients make for a tasty favor. A toast to the happy couple could be made using "take home" champagne flutes etched with a photo of the local countryside or well-known landmark. Rustic votive holders can also be used to add ambiance to tables and guests can take them home as favors.

    Wrapping Favors

    • Favors wrapped in red and white checkered cloth tied with twine, suede bags secured with raffia, or burlap pouches closed with colorful scraps of calico fabric can add a unique flair to your favors. Good fillings for these fun packages could include popcorn, hot chocolate, potpourri sachets, peanuts or horseshoe charms.
