Dog Food
-
Naturally, you are not going to give the kids at the party actual dog food, but dog-themed food can be fun. You can serve hot dogs, cookies shaped like dog bones and you can make a cake shaped like a paw or a dog. A cookie cutter shaped like a dog paw or dog bone can help theme your food. You can use them to cut shaped sandwiches and cookies. You can also have kids make their own sundaes in new dog bowls.
Dog Games
-
Instead of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," you can play "Pin the Tail on the Dog." You can make your own dog and tails out of poster board and double-sided tape. You can have the kids go on a scavenger hunt and put the clues on paper cut-outs shaped like dog paws. You can also have the kids play a game in which they have a relay race, but instead of standing upright they race on all fours.

Dog Favors
-
When kids have a birthday party they usually hand out goody bags or party favors to all of their guests. There are many dog-themed favors kids would like. You can fill goodie bags with stuffed dogs, dog coloring books, dog stamps, dog stickers and dog jewelry such as a dog tag or paw print necklace. You could also have kids wear dog ear headbands or hats during the party and they can take them home to play with later.
Dog Decorations
-
To decorate for your dog-themed party you can start with the basic balloons and streamers. You can make a dog house out of cardboard and have the kids decorate and play with it. You can also have the kids put the gifts inside of it. Faux fur in a Dalmatian print can make a nice table cloth or rug for the kids to sit on. Cut out paw print shapes and have your child color them and hang them up. You can also add to the decor by having dog-themed music playing in the background. Make a CD of songs like "Who Let the Dogs Out" and "How Much is that Doggy in the Window" and play the CD while the kids are arriving.
