Air Traffic Management Schools
Air traffic management, also known as air traffic control, is the organized and systematic process of handling aircraft that are in flight from one control zone to another. This process allows a plane to travel across the country and into other countries all the while being monitored by air traffic controllers on the ground.

Located in Eastman Georgia, Middle Georgia College offers a four-year air traffic control program, that was recognized in 2007 as the top "Air Traffic Collegiate Training Program" in the United States. The school uses current communications equipment and uses simulations in a "hands-on" approach to teaching the skills that air traffic controllers need.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Students enrolled in this program complete a bachelor's degree at the schools Dayton Beach location. Students learn the curriculum through simulation laboratories that are designed to present real world situations to the students. The campus for this program is next door to the Daytona Beach International Airport and was opened in 1965.

This school limits enrollment to 40 students each semester, and students must receive approval from the aviation academic adviser before final acceptance is given, according to the school's website. The school offers a four-year degree program in aviation technology, with an emphasis on air traffic control. Areas of study include aviation weather, radar environment and air traffic control regulations.
Purdue University

Purdue University offers a bachelor of science degree in aviation technology, and provided the students meet all the requirements, they will be recommended for hiring by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Areas of study at Purdue University include introduction to aviation, basic aircraft science, fundamentals of flight, aircraft systems and aviation safety. According to the Purdue University website, starting salaries for an air traffic controller start at $25,000 and can eventually exceed $90,000.
