Motels on Route 1 in Wells, Maine
Wells, Maine is located in York County, not far from the boundary with New Hampshire at the Piscataqua River. The Atlantic beaches here are wide and sandy, and the major thoroughfare, Highway 1, passes through the town about a mile from the shoreline. This is the same highway that follows the coast all the way to southern Florida and in Wells, as in many places, the road is a major avenue of commerce.

This '50s-style motel is south of town on the west side of Highway 1. Here, travelers will find a free breakfast, Wi-Fi, cable TV, air-conditioning, a swimming pool and a tennis court. The Majestic Regency is an affordable stopover for those traveling further north or for visitors to the Wells area, who don't mind driving to the nearby local attractions, like the sandy beach that is located on Mile Road and open to the public. Also on Highway 1 is the Ogunquit Playhouse, a popular summer theater. Pets are allowed at the motel.

Nearby are several acres of estuary and marshland that border the river, and the Atlantic is visible from parts of the inn. The inn offers a free continental breakfast, cable TV, seasonal rates and a heated pool and Jacuzzi. The Ogunquit Museum of American Art and Perkins Cove are a quick trip south from the inn. They are both located off Shore Road in Ogunquit.

Wi-Fi facilities are located in the building and no pets are allowed. Local restaurants include Joshua's and the Maine Diner. Located near the center of Wells on Route 1, this place gives visitors the choice of a motel room, a two-bedroom cottage or a room in a carriage-building guest house. Amenities include a heated pool, hot tub and a basketball court. Each room comes with a microwave, air conditioning and phone service. The local shuttle bus to nearby attractions in Wells Beach and Perkins Cove stops right in front of the motel. No pets are allowed and seasonal rates apply. Diners can visit Mike's Clam Shack and the Steakhouse on Highway 1 or stop by Billy's Chowder House on Mile Road, while visiting the beach.
