The LCD & LED Array Backlight Is Causing Electronic Noise

Excessive laptop noises should be investigated.

Laptops all tend to make a certain amount of noise. Most of this noise comes from the flow of air from the cooling fan. At times, however, you may notice other noises coming from your laptop. If you suspect that an electronic noise may be coming from your LCD or LED backlight in the display, the sections below can help you diagnose and fix the problem.

Buzzing from Lower Area of the Screen

If you hear a buzzing noise coming from the lower area of the screen and you don't notice any problems with the brightness of your display, the problem may be related to the LCD inverter rather than the backlight itself. In most cases the inverter should be replaced. Take your laptop to an authorized repair center to have them diagnose and repair the problem.

Raising Brightness to Reduce Noise

In some cases, raising the brightness to the maximum level orcan have an effect on the noise coming from the laptop. This can be due to poor design of the backlight mechanism, or it can be a sign of a malfunctioning backlight or other connected component. Take the laptop to a repair center to have the backlight tested.

Lowering Brightness to Reduce Noise

Reducing the brightness of the display may also cause the noise to fade. In this case, it is almost certainly caused by the backlight. Return the display or laptop, or have it repaired by an authorized repair center.

Hissing Noises

If your laptop's display is making a hissing sound, it is likely caused by bad wiring. Solder joints may have begun to come lose and will need to be repaired by an authorized repair center.
