Michigan provides activities for all seasons, from swimming and boating during the summer to skiing and ice skating during the winter. However, inclement weather during all seasons can ruin your plans, leaving you wondering what to do. Fortunately, many businesses throughout Michigan provide indoor fun for residents and visitors, including several inside waterparks.

  1. Zehnder's Splash Village

    • Zehnder's Splash Village is a 30,000-square-foot mid-Michigan water park in Frankenmuth. It has a dumping bucket, four-story tube slide, lazy river, splash play area, and hot tub. Those renting rooms at Zehnder's receive free admission to the water park, and the public can pay a fee to be admitted for a full day or a half day.

    Best Western Sterling Inn

    • Best Western Sterling Inn's Indoor Waterpark Recreation Center in Macomb County's Best Western Sterling Inn Banquet and Conference Center has a 32,000-square-foot indoor water park for hotel guests. The waterpark has an ADA-compliant swimming pool with full-time lifeguards, an Interactive Splash Play Park with tipping frogs, geysers, water bikes, a three-story tube water slide and a lazy river. A fitness center, two large whirlpools, saunas, locker rooms and an indoor running track provide a break from water fun. A video game arcade and poolside snack bar also are available.

    Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark

    • Michigan's largest indoor waterpark is Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain in Northern Michigan. This 88,000-square-foot park has five water slides, climbing walls, a surf simulator, a shallow children's pool, rides, activity pools, a lazy river and Splasherhorn Mountain's Wall of Water. Avalanche Bay also has Jacuzzi hot tubs, a cafe and an arcade.

    Great Wolf Lodge Bear Track Landing

    • Traverse City's Great Wolf Lodge has an indoor waterpark called Bear Track Landing. The 38,000-square-foot waterpark is available to hotel guests and has five pools, eight water slides, a lazy river and a tree house water fort. The facility also has two whirlpools and an 18-hole miniature golf course.

    Comfort Suites Lakeside Indoor Waterpark

    • Northern Michigan has a full service waterpark for hotel guests at Comfort Suites Lakeside Hotel at Houghton Lake. The 9,000-square-foot indoor water park features adult- and kid-sized pools, a water slide, a lazy river and a hot tub. The facility has a restaurant and bar, fitness center, game room and Jacuzzi.

    Full Blast Entertainment Center

    • Full Blast is a family entertainment center in Kalamazoo, open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Full Blast has many attractions, including indoor and outdoor waterparks. Gully Washer, the indoor waterpark, has two 100-foot waterslides, a zero-depth entry pool, water play features, a lazy river and a jet hot tub. Other activities available include Flash Flood, which is the outdoor water park, a sports gymnasium, and indoor and outdoor playgrounds. You can also buy tickets for a rock-climbing wall, inflatable obstacle course, and bungee bouncing.
