Christian & Missionary Alliance Colleges

Christian & Missionary Alliance Colleges thumbnail
The world is the mission field of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) is a dynamic organization based on the concept of active missionary endeavors, helping and supporting its many outreach ministries. The colleges approved and operated by C&MA have a history of producing hands-on missionary and pastoral candidates. Graduation from one of the official schools is highly encouraged for those seeking to serve. Currently, it actively employs multiple missionaries and ministers across the world.

  1. Identify the Reason to Seek an Education From C&MA Schools

    • Knowledge and information are important to the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Knowledge and information are important to the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Each person seeking an education with C&MA has a reason for doing so. Most attend one of the colleges closest to them for an undergraduate degree, then attend at least one year at the Alliance Theological Seminary. A missionary for the denomination is required to have an undergraduate degree with emphasis on Bible, theology, pastoral studies and intercultural studies, especially in the social sciences. The first step is to determine which college is the best fit, usually by location.

Choose the Best School for Personal Goals

    • Choosing the best school is critical to a good education.
Choosing the best school is critical to a good education.

Anyone seeking service with C&MA should consider taking the courses specific to the denomination at one of these schools, even if a graduate degree is held from another institution. Location is one consideration, but with the strong suggestion of post-graduate work in Bible, theology and intercultural studies, the seminary is probably the best one, especially if a degree has already been attained. However, if seeking only undergraduate work and basic information about C&MA, then any of the colleges suffice, and should be judged by proximity and future plans.

Determine How Much Education is Desired and Required With C&MA Schools

    • A basic understanding of the doctrines, teachings and beliefs of the denomination can be obtained at any of the colleges, the seminary, and at a local congregation of the denomination. To fulfill the requirements for service as a missionary, mission support person or minister, some time at the seminary is necessary. Since it is required, consideration should be given to completing all work there if personal finances and employment allow relocation.
