    • If you stay here, you might not choose to leave, except to stroll to Colonial Williamsburg or drive two miles to the Busch Gardens amusement park. The Bourbon Street Restaurant includes a cocktail lounge and offers room service. The facility also features an indoor heated pool, hot tub, exercise room, game room and billiard room. The Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Battlefield are also just a short drive away. Pets can visit for a fee. Rooms start at $69 in 2010.

    Patrick Henry Inn

    • Not far from the Clarion, the Patrick Henry Inn offers a playground and game room. The pool is outdoors, but it's heated. Rooms start at $45 a night in 2010. The two-bedroom options offer a complete kitchen, living room with a queen-sized pullout sofa and flat-screen TV. There is a fitness center. The inn is a half-block from Colonial Williamsburg. Pets are permitted and there are non-smoking rooms.

    Quarterpath Inn Historic

    • The New York Times says that the Quarterpath is the best inexpensive property in the Williamsburg area. Located on York Street, the Quarterpath Inn is family-owned and operated. Rooms are $39 per night as of 2010. There's a coffee bar on premises equipped with a big-screen television, and the clocks in the rooms come with MP3 docking stations. Pets are welcome and connecting rooms are available. All rooms are non-smoking.

    Country Hearth Inn and Suites

    • The Country Hearth Inn is a boutique property just outside the historic district. What you get in exchange for staying a little farther away from Colonial Williamsburg is a host of local wildlife on the grounds, fed by the staff. There's a picnic area near the pool, complete with grill, where you can relax and watch the wildlife come and go. The inn is a mile away from the colonial area. Water Country USA is a three-mile drive. As of 2010, rooms start at $44.95 per night and some are non-smoking. Free wireless Internet access is available.
