Jiffy Lube Scholarships
It's never too early to start looking for scholarship money for college. To help students plan for post-secondary education, Jiffy Lube offers two scholarship awards to high school students in certain states: the "Teen Driver" Scholarship and the "Your Turn Behind the Wheel" Scholarship.
-
Award Amount
-
Jiffy Lube awards two $5,000 grand prize scholarships and two $1,500 runner-up scholarships in each of seven different states. One winner and one runner-up scholarship are awarded in the "Teen Driver" category, and one winner and one runner-up scholarship are awarded in the "Your Turn Behind The Wheel" category. Scholarship money must be used to defray the cost of tuition or books for college, and will be sent directly to the educational institution the student is attending.
Eligibility Requirements
-
To be eligible for the "Teen Driver" award, the applicant must be between the ages of 15 and 17, must be attending high school, and must be enrolled in a driver's education program. To be eligible for the "My Turn Behind The Wheel" award, the applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 18, must hold a driver's license, and must be attending high school. Selection Criteria
-
Student entries are judged on the basis of a 500-word essay on the topic of what "drives" them. Winners are then selected by a scholarship review committee. Factors that are considered by the committee include uniqueness of ideas presented in the essay, evidence of goals and personal ambitions, originality and creativity, evidence of a passion for learning, how comprehensive and persuasive the essay is, and evidence that an applicant may pursue entrepreneurial activities in the future.
How To Apply
-
To apply for either category, the applicant should visit the Jiffy Lube Teen Driver Scholarship Program website to complete and print an electronic application, which must be submitted by mail along with a 500-word essay that answers the question "What Drives You?" To be eligible, entries for the "Teen Driver" category must be postmarked by April 4. Entries for the "Your Turn Behind The Wheel" must be postmarked by April 18.
