The city of Denver is the state capital of Colorado and is located on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains in the western U.S. Denver and the surrounding metropolitan area provide many opportunities for enjoying concert events of all kinds. From rock-and-roll to opera to musical theater and beyond, there is no shortage of concert events in Denver.

  1. Symphony Events

    • The Colorado Symphony offers a wide array of symphonic entertainment, with most concert events held at the Boettcher Concert Hall. The concert hall is located within the Denver Performing Arts Center in downtown Denver. The Lakewood Symphony Orchestra is a smaller symphonic group that holds regular performances at Lakewood Cultural Center in the Denver suburb of Lakewood. The Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra has three orchestras open to musicians age 7 to 22, with performances at Gates Concert Hall at the University of Denver.

    Red Rocks Amphitheatre

    • Red Rocks Amphitheatre is one of the most well-known outdoor concert venues in the world, made famous in several music videos by acts such as U2 and Stevie Nicks. The venue is located in Red Rocks Park near Morrison, 15 miles west of Denver. Red Rocks Amphitheatre is known for the rock structures that are a hallmark of the site. Behind the stage is a giant disc-shaped outcropping, with several other large rocks and outcroppings surrounding the venue. The seating area can accomodate nearly 10,000 people.

    Arena Events at Pepsi Center

    • The Pepsi Center in downtown Denver is the home to the city's NBA and NHL teams and also is Colorado's largest indoor concert venue. The arena can seat more than 20,000 people for concerts. More than 200 events are held at the Pepsi Center each year, and concerts are a mainstay of the arena's schedule. Musical performers such as Ozzy Osbourne, Linkin Park, Nickelback, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and many others attract large crowds to the Pepsi Center.

    Ellie Caulkins Opera House

    • Opera lovers flock to Ellie Caulkins Opera House, located within the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The opera house is an acoustical hall built in the lyric style, with balcony, loge, mezzanine and orchestra seating options. The Ellie Caulkins Opera House is one of nine opera houses in the world -- and only three in the U.S. -- that offer seatback subtitles for every patron. Performances such as the operatic version of "Romeo and Juliet" and the Nutcracker ballet are held at the venue.
