Sporting events are one way a college group can raise money.

College groups and organizations need finances to operate. Although most college groups require their members to pay dues, they must receive additional funds to support their various university-related causes and operations. To supply finances, college groups often participate in multiple fundraisers. There are various casual fundraisers that a college group can complete rather easily.

Bake Sales

Bake sales are an easy and casual way to raise funds. A college organization or fraternity/sorority can bake a variety of desserts such as cakes, cookies, muffins, and pies. Afterwards, they can sell these goods in heavy-traffic areas within the university. You can sell your baked goods for a few dollars per item. Since baking products are fairly inexpensive, it's fairly easy to make a profit.

Party

Throwing a fundraising party is a way to have a good time for a good cause. The college organization can charge a few dollars' entry fee. The party can be thrown at a student center or fraternity or sorority house, and can have an entertaining theme, such as costume night, casino night, or formal night. Additionally, the organizers can provide refreshments or gift bags.

Sporting Event

A college group can organize a sporting event at a college gymnasium or park to earn money. For example, an organization can create a three-on-three basketball tournament, a volleyball game, or a flag football contest. College students will pay a small fee to register themselves and their group to participate in the sporting event. You could also charge the event attendees a couple of dollars to watch their friends. The participants could even receive a grand prize upon winning the sporting event, since this type of fundraiser typically raises a lot of money.

Concert

Concerts are a way to raise significant funds for a college organization. By providing a popular artist, the demand for tickets will be high -- especially among college students deprived of entertainment throughout the semester. Organizers must ensure that the ticket prices cover the artist's expenses, as well as make a viable profit. At the concert, the group can sell additional items such as food and t-shirts, and accept donations.
