Counter Strike Video Effects
"Counter Strike" is a team-based online shooter with a large fanbase. The game places opposing teams of terrorists and counter terrorists in enclosed arenas and gives them missions to perform. "Counter Strike" runs on the "Source" game engine by Valve and is capable of using special video effects such as filters, anti-aliasing and bloom and if your hardware can support it. When making use of the video effects, you can run the "Video Stress Test" from the main menu of the game to see if the game will run at a playable speed or if you need to tone things down a bit.

Resolution
-
One of the things that make a big impact on "Counter Strike" is the resolution. Always choose the highest resolution that your computer and graphics card combination supports. This will ensure that the video effects look the best. Also make sure the aspect ratio matches that of your monitor, otherwise the video effects will look distorted. Your aspect ratio will either be "normal" or "widescreen," depending on the type of monitor you have. Enable "full screen" in order for the video effects to fill the entire screen, as opposed to "windowed," in which case the game will run in a window over the desktop.
Detail
-
"Counter Strike" allows you to adjust the detail of everything in the game from the advanced tab in the video options menu. The asterisk next to the detail level is the recommended detail for the video effects as determined by the game. If you believe that your system is capable of better select the appropriate options from the drop-down menus. If you select "high" or "very high" for too many things and your computer can't handle, it you will experience choppiness and slowdown during the game.

Anti-aliasing and Filtering
-
Anti-aliasing is a video effect in "Counter Strike" that reduces the jagged edges of the graphics and gives everything a smoother, more detailed look. You can choose to disable anti-aliasing to increase performance at the cost of visual quality. Another video effect available in "Counter Strike" is filtering, which also improves the visuals. You can select filtering from "2X" all the way up to "16X" if your hardware can handle it or disable it completely if you prefer performance over visuals.
HDR and Bloom
-
HDR (high-definition range) and Bloom are two "Counter Strike" video effects that you will find under the advanced menu in the video options. HDR will produce much more detailed and realistic visuals when it is enabled but comes with a performance cost. Bloom will improve the quality of light in the game and result in more realistic-looking scenes but can slow the game's speed.
