Expensive gifts will be greatly appreciated by the couple.

Many times, choosing the perfect wedding gift can be difficult, especially if you are wanting to spend a significant amount on it. Most couples will register for relatively inexpensive items and very few expensive items. If there is something that you wish to purchase for the couple and they aren't registered for it, consider asking the couple's parents or close friends if the gift would be appropriate.

  1. Honeymoon

    • A dream wedding gift would be to pay for the couple's honeymoon or vacation. Ask the couple what their dream vacation destination would be and arrange to have everything paid for or even pay for part of it. Pay for the couple's hotel reservations and flights or simply pick an all-inclusive hotel that will include the hotel room, food, cocktails and beverages for the couple's entire stay. These vacations are paid for up front and can be given in the form of a gift certificate.

    Appliances

    • Purchase a new appliance for the couple. If they are purchasing a house or simply moving into a new apartment, every new couple have some appliances that they need or want. You can purchase a new top-of-the-line coffee maker, a Kitchen Aid mixer or a new washer and dryer set. Ask the couple or their parents what they would like the most and purchase it for them.

    Fine China, Silverware and Crystal

    • Most couples will be registered for fine china, silverware and crystal. Many times, most guests will choose to purchase one place setting. Depending on how expensive the china is, choose to purchase the full number of place settings that the couple registered for or the entire set of china that includes serving platters and bowls. You can also choose to add the silverware that they registered for and the crystal stemware so that their table is complete when they want to throw a dinner party as a newly married couple.

    Alcohol

    • Purchase the couple an expensive bottle of wine or alcohol and include instructions to save it for a significant wedding anniversary, such as their 10th. For an added touch, include stemware, a wine-bottle opener or ice bucket from their wedding registry. You could also purchase the couple tickets to a wine tasting at the vineyard where the wine came from or tickets to tour the facility where the alcohol was made.
