Nudist Resorts in the Maryland Area

Save

Most of the nudist resorts in and near Maryland are about two hours west of the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metropolitan area. A single naturist club serves the eastern part of the state. Always call ahead for a reservation at a resort, leave the camera at home and bring a towel to sit on -- it’s standard naturist etiquette.

Pine Tree Associates

  • Situated where the state of Maryland narrows between Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Pine Tree Associates in Hancock covers 96 acres of forested land in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. A large outdoor pool is the centerpiece of fitness facilities that include a hot tub and courts for tennis, paddleball and pickleball. Indoor facilities include a pool, sauna and game room. The resort has accommodations in cabins and travel trailers as well as an RV park with water and electrical hookups.

The Pen-Mar Club

  • The 60-acre Pen-Mar Club, about 4 miles north of Hancock in Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania, has hiking trails, horseshoe, shuffleboard and bocce courts as well as a catch and release fishing pond. A heated outdoor pool is open 24 hours a day and a sandy volleyball court is lit for night play. Tiny cabins, an RV lot with electrical hookups and a tent campground provide accommodations for overnight guests. Events, scheduled from March through October, include potluck suppers, live music and cook-offs. Children are welcome at Pen-Mar.

Avalon

  • Avalon, in Paw Paw, West Virginia, is a 140-acre resort with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, a full-service restaurant and a lounge. In addition to camping sites, Avalon accommodations include standard rooms in a lodge, a secluded cabin and condos. Kick up your heels at the Honky Tonk in the Holler festival in July, the Music Festival in August or the Bikes, Blues and BBQ celebration in June. Also in June, the Avalon’s Faeriefest is timed for the summer solstice. The family-friendly resort has a playground for children.

Maryland Health Society

  • Established in 1934, the Maryland Health Society is a small, private club that allows day visitors who make reservations. Located near Davidsonville, about 10 miles southwest of Annapolis, the club doesn’t have fancy amenities like a restaurant or accommodations, but does have an outdoor pool. Weekend activities such as fish fries, holiday cookouts and dinner dances are scheduled throughout the year. If you’re a local, the club accepts new members who are willing to pay dues and pitch in to keep the grounds in shape.
