GED Essay Practice Topics
The language arts portion of the GED requires students to write an essay of approximately 200 words in the writing skills portion. You must write an organized and well constructed essay in response to a provided statement. You can practice for this portion of the test by writing sample essays on similar topics, many of which cover topics close to home, such as family, school and media. The focus should be on showing your reasoning skills as well as your writing skills.

Describe the essential characteristics of a good parent. While writing on this topic, focus on your image of the best parent. Use plenty of adjectives and adverbs. Keep your sentences organized and organize your thoughts before you begin writing the essay. Don't write about what doesn't make a good parent; focus on what the question is asking and focus on the positive.

Why do you think that radio continues to be popular in the age of television? Make sure that you answer the question in your response. It is not a yes or no question, but instead is asking for an explanation. Use reasons for your opinion and explain them thoroughly.

If you could change one thing about your childhood, what would it be and why? There are two different parts to this essay question. Address both of them in the essay. Use at least a paragraph for each portion of the question and explain your answer completely.
