Play up your femininity by dressing like a girl straight out of a 1950s sock hop. The essential item in this costume is the poodle skirt. Check thrift stores for recycled poodle skirts, or ask your mom to help you create one with a basic pattern. Choose a feminine color like pink or purple. Pair the skirt with a crew-neck white T-shirt and a colorful cardigan. Wear your hair in a high ponytail, accentuate your lips with red lipstick and don't forget your saddle shoes.

Find a classically cut sheath dress; look for one that hits around the knee and has a high neckline. Adorn the dress in plenty of pearls: a pearl necklace, bracelet or earrings will do the trick. Wear your hair up in a classic French twist, off of your face. Wear neutral makeup, but play up your eyes with black eyeliner.

Think big on the hair and makeup. Tease your hair and set it in rollers to give it volume. Wear brightly colored makeup that complements your gown color.
