Kensington 120 Watt A/C Adapter Tips

Kensington 120-watt adapters are designed to power many different high-performance laptop models with high input power requirements. Instead of manufacturing a wide variety of different adapter models, Kensington includes adapter tips compatible with a large number of laptop brands. In order to ensure the continued and safe function of the adapter, always adhere to the use tips provided by Kensington.

  1. Power Tips

    • Ensure that the correct power adapter tip is used when connecting the adapter to the computer. The adapter comes with adapter tips designed to work with the most popular computer brands and will not work with computers other than those listed. A link to the compatibility chart is provided in the Resources section.

    Proper Cooling

    • Verify that the adapter cable is positioned so that it will not be stepped on and so that nothing is placed on top of the actual adapter. The adapter casing is specially designed to keep the unit from overheating and cannot function properly if covered. Avoid placing the adapter on surfaces such as beds, rugs or sofas.

    Power Requirements

    • Verify that the power adapter is only plugged into power sources compatible with the label on the adapter. The adapter is not compatible with power sources outside of North America and may be damaged if used with a foreign-use power adapter designed to convert voltages.

    Damage to the Adapter Casing

    • Ensure that liquids are kept far from the adapter. Inspect the adapter case for damage; discontinue use if cracks or other openings appear. In the event of any other damage to the adapter, discontinue use of the adapter and replace.
