The small town of Dumfries, Virginia is an 11-mile drive northeast of Quantico Marine Corps Base. The town is directly off Interstate 95 and U.S. Highway 1, making it both easy to get to and a popular tourist stop. Dumfries' history dates back to the 17th century. Historical markers and the Weems-Botts museum tell the town's story; it was once a port which received tons of tobacco. A number of motels in the town offer choices from basic to upscale.
