Supplies for Prenatal Childbirth Classes

Supplies for Prenatal Childbirth Classes thumbnail
Prenatal childbirth classes usually include lectures, discussions and exercises.

Prenatal childbirth classes are designed to prepare you and your partner for the birthing process. Most prenatal class teachers request that you bring the same general supplies, but this can vary according to the specific class you are attending, so check with the teacher to see what supplies you will need before the day of the class.

  1. Pillows

    • Bring one or two bed pillows. Avoid bringing small couch pillows because you will be spending a lot of time sitting and laying on the floor, and you want to make sure you have enough padding to be comfortable. You also may need to use the pillows as a prop in some of the exercises the instructor will have you perform.

    Floor Padding

    • Bring a mat, blanket or towel to lay on when performing labor rehearsals. This will make the class much more comfortable for you since you will be laying on the floor.

    Beverages

    • Bring some water or juice for you and your partner. You are going to be in class for at least a couple of hours, and you will be doing a great deal of labor exercises, so be prepared to work up a thirst.

    Loose Clothing

    • Wear sweat pants, a track suit or any other loose, comfortable clothing. You want to be comfortable when laying on the floor doing birthing exercises. It also is a good idea to dress in layers in case you get hot or cold during the class.
