One way to cut down on costs for teacher gifts is to make them yourself. Baking a batch of cookies or brownies is an especially good idea when there are multiple teachers. Bake the sweet treats and place them in a decorative tin box or plastic bag. Tie a ribbon around it and give it to the teacher, along with a heartfelt thank you note.
Hand Sanitizer

Teachers come into contact with large numbers of children every day. Children can carry germs and can easily pass them on to their teacher. So help the teacher guard herself against these germs by giving her hand sanitizer. Choose a few small bottles that have different scents so that she can place bottles in different locations around her classroom.

For a teacher who likes to cook, choose a recipe book. Select a cookbook dealing with one genre, such as Italian food or pies. If you want to spend even less money, make your own cookbook. Purchase a blank book and write the recipes for your family's best dishes inside it. Leave space for the teacher to write his favorite recipes in the book as well.

Create a gift basket for the teacher and fill it with items like chalk, ink pens, colored pencils, erasers and push pins.
