The area around Holmesville, Ohio has a large Amish community.

Holmesville is a small town in the middle of Holmes County on state highway 83, which is in Amish Country, in central Ohio. In this rural area you may see Amish people driving a horse and buggy, and you may shop for many Amish-made products. Holmesville is on Killbuck Creek, and at the south end of the Killbuck Marsh State Wildlife area. Holmesville does not have hotels, but small towns within 20 to 25 miles of Holmesville do.

  1. Berlin Village Inn

    • Berlin Village Inn is in the small town of Berlin, about 10 miles southwest of Holmesville. This is Amish Country, and the hotel is within walking distance of handmade craft and furniture shops, quilt shops, a bakery, bulk food stores and restaurants. A free breakfast is served, which includes locally-made pastries. Pets are not allowed, but a kennel is located nearby. Children under 16 may stay free with paying adults.

    Millersburg Inn

    • Millersburg is one of the older towns in Holmes County, and is about six miles south of Holmesville. The Millersburg Inn is a real piece of history, and has been in operation since 1874. It is one of the oldest in Ohio and is on the state and national historic register. The exterior of the hotel, and much of the interior, appears much as it did in 1874. The hotel is modern, with 26 rooms on three floors. The hotel has free Wi-Fi and three private dining rooms. In 2010, it was discovered that President Grover Cleveland stayed here. Pets are allowed in some rooms. A full restaurant is located in the attached tavern, and during the summer, entertainment is featured in the outdoor courtyard.

    The Barn Inn

    • The Barn Inn is out in the county, between Millersburg and Berlin. It is five miles southeast of Holmesville, and the closest lodging to the town. This bed and breakfast is a converted red dairy barn. The Barn Inn has 11 guest rooms, many of which have Victorian decor. A house, called the Fred GherigHouse, has room for five guests. A full country breakfast is served. There is a honeymoon luxury suite that has a Jacuzzi and a fireplace. A spacious front room, and a parlor, are available for relaxing. The back of the hotel has a stone fountain, and areas for walking and relaxing outside.

    Hilton Garden Inn

    • The largest town in the immediate area is Wooster, which is 13 miles north. If you are looking for luxury accommodations in the middle of Amish Country, visit the Hilton Garden Inn of Wooster. The Hilton Garden Inn has a variety of standard rooms and suites. Suites have extra space, a sleeper sofa, oversized chair and large work room. Some rooms have beds with adjustable firmness. A free cooked-to-order breakfast is served. The hotel has handicapped-accessible rooms. The hotel has a restaurant, but if you want to go out, you can go to local establishments such as the City Square Steakhouse or Melvins Brick Oven Bakery.
