Costume Ideas for a Teen
While they might be too old to go trick-or-treating, teenagers still enjoy dressing up for Halloween. Costume parties are also fun for teenagers. When your teen needs a costume, consider making one yourself. Not only can store-bought costumes be fairly expensive, the ones made for girls can be a bit revealing. Lots of different costumes are perfect for teenagers.

Princess
-
Let your teenage girl remember her childhood days by dressing up as a princess. Choose a long formal dress she already owns, such as a dress from a wedding, a dance or a pageant, as the base of the costume. If she does not have an appropriate dress already, then choose one from a thrift store. Purchase a large tiara from a party store or a costume shop.
Vampire
-
Vampires have long-been popular costumes, but they became even more popular with the "Twilight" series of books and movies. Create a traditional vampire costume for your child. Use a black suit or a long black dress as the base of the costume. Make a cape out of a black or red sheet. Complete the costume with fangs and fake blood from a costume shop. For a modern vampire costume, like the ones on "Twilight," wear regular clothes and put sparkles all over their clothing.

Walking Disaster
-
Create a whimsical costume for your teenager as a "walking disaster." He can wear regular clothes as the base of the costume. Then, cut lightning bolts, thunder clouds, funnel-shaped tornadoes and flames out of felt and pin them to the costume. Pin tufts of cotton to the costume for smoke.
Bubble Bath
-
Another funny costume idea is a bubble bath. Use an oval-shaped laundry basket to create the tub for the costume. Cut the bottom out of it and cover it with white fabric. Attach cloth straps to it for suspenders. Put on a blue or white sweat suit as the base of the costume, then put on the laundry basket so that it sits around your waist. Blow up blue or white balloons and pin them all over your upper body to create your bubbles. Wear a white or blue knit cap with a rubber ducky hot glued to the top of it to complete the outfit.
