While door hangers were once associated with the phrase "Do Not Disturb" for use in hotels they are now used for a variety of purposes, including variations of "Do Not Disturb." Use door hangers as a marketing tool or create a decorative door hanger for a child or to celebrate the holidays.

Use door hangers as an advertising method as opposed to advertising in newspapers, creating flyers or buying space in a magazine. Design your hanger to include a special company message, such as a coupon for 10 percent off an order or meal. Place on apartment doors, homes, local businesses or try asking hotels/motels if you may distribute your hangers. They are also stand-alone ads, meaning they do not have to compete with other ads on a page to be read.

While the "Do Not Disturb" use for door hangers is well-known so as not to wake someone sleeping, they can also be used for privacy when studying.
