Day Camps in Oklahoma

When they're not in school, kids need something to do. They need to be occupied. Luckily, loads of day camps are available to keep them busy all over the state of Oklahoma.

  1. Advantage Basketball Camp

    • Advantage has basketball camps all over the state. Advantage's camps are day camps for children from age 7 to 18. All of the counselors at the camps have some experience either coaching or playing college basketball. They also receive additional training from the Advantage Camp founder Michael Hummel. According to Advantage, in addition to training your children to be better basketball players, the camp will instill in them "an enhanced sense of self-confidence and 'unstoppability' in life." The camp takes both boys and girls. The weekly rate runs from $251 to $350 as of 2011.

    Girl Scouts

    • The Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma have seven camps that teach girls and their parents camping basics in various towns including Stillwater, Bartlesville and at Fort Gibson Lake. The camps are available for two different age groups; 3 to 5 years old and 6 years old and older. The instructors at Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma will teach girls how to build fires, set up a tent and other campsite preparation techniques.

    SSB Kids!

    • SSB Kids is headquartered in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. SSB camp's offer training in gymnastics, rock climbing, swimming and a handful of other sports. SSB offers camps throughout the year. They are available to two different age groups; 3 to 5 years old and 6 years old and older. Its staff is certified by United States of America Gymnastics. They are trained in safety by the Red Cross and are certified in CPR and first aid.

    YMCA

    • YMCAs all across the country offer day camp programs. The Westside YMCA in Tulsa, Oklahoma, gives children the opportunity to explore 28 acres. The activities at the Westside YMCA range from hiking to canoeing. Its traditional camp is for children ages 5 to 12. When the children arrive they are separated into four different age groups. Each group is taught to experience every aspect of nature. They learn archery, arts and crafts and environmental education.
