Scholarships for Female High School Seniors
There are a number of scholarship awards programs designed specifically for young women who are in their senior year in high school. The goal of many female-specific scholarships is to empower young women, encouraging them to not only take on leadership opportunities, but also to prove their independence and willingness to carve out a better future for themselves.

Distinguished Young Woman
-
The Distinguished Young Women program, which was originally branded America's Junior Miss, was established in 1958. Its national scholarship program is geared toward graduating high school females and is designed to promote independence, leadership, health and fitness, self-confidence and a willingness to excel and inspire others. Students who are chosen must compete against one another in a pageant-style competition. Competitors are then judged on their initial interview, level of talent, physical fitness, academics and ability to express themselves. As of 2011, scholarship amounts vary based on placement in the competition, with the 2011 Alabama first-place winner earning an $8,000 scholarship and the second-place winner earning a $2,000 scholarship.
The R.O.S.E. Fund
-
The R.O.S.E. Fund is a charity organization designed to help female survivors of domestic and relationship violence regain their self-esteem. Each year, the R.O.S.E. Fund awards $10,000 at its Awards Gala in Boston, Massachusetts, to an outstanding young woman with an amazing story about overcoming the odds and making a powerful stand against domestic violence. The R.O.S.E. Foundation works closely with high schools, maintaining a report card program that helps identify and halt domestic and relationship violence among teenage girls.
