Ideas for a Wedding Banquet
The wedding banquet is the heart of a wedding, as it allows both the bride and groom to celebrate their love and the commitment they just made with their close friends and family members. Planning your wedding banquet should not be taken lightly; it should be exactly what you want and always dreamed about. Planning a wedding banquet simply comes down to nailing down a few specifics, and once those are determined and in place, you will be one step closer to celebrating at your wedding banquet.
-
Location
-
One of the most enjoyable parts of planning your wedding banquet is deciding on a location. The options for your location can be endless, yet a number of factors may force you to narrow them down. These factors include budget, time of year, how formal the wedding is and the theme of the wedding. Some ideas for the location of a wedding banquet include fire halls, church halls, hotel banquet rooms, parks, outdoor venues with pavilions, camps, country clubs, golf courses, resorts, wineries and estates.
Table Set-Up
-
After nailing down a location at which to hold your wedding banquet, you can begin determining how exactly you want your tables set up. Some ideas include having a head table at the front of the room where the wedding party is seated and having the guests at round tables. You can also set up a sweetheart's table at which the bride and groom will sit, and have the guests and wedding party seated at surrounding tables. Other options include having a small stage upon which the wedding party's table is set up and then having the guests' tables arranged in front of the stage. Do not forget to take into account a DJ table, cake table, gift table and dance floor when determining your table set up.

Meal Options
-
The meal is probably the most important part of your wedding banquet, as it is the reason for the whole affair. When planning your banquet, your meal will depend on the type of wedding you are having, the banquet's location and, of course, your budget. If your banquet is at a restaurant, you will most likely be serving its food. Other options for your meal include tapas, a popular Mediterranean-style meal; a buffet-style meal; or a family-style meal. Other options are serving appetizers only, a five-course meal or a meal catered by a favorite restaurant.
Decorations
-
Depending on where your wedding banquet is held, decorating the space can come down to either choosing from what the location has to offer or starting entirely from scratch. Either way, you can create a beautiful banquet. Place flower arrangements on each table and all throughout the room, such as on cake tables, on windowsills, and even on the food tables. Decide whether you want your table decor and place settings to be simple or elaborate and then choose the color scheme for your decor. Decorate the chairs and tables with fabrics and bows, set out favors at each place setting and add or remove lighting from the room to create your desired environment. Consider placing unique decor on each table, such as candle arrangements or even glasses or bowls filled with goldfish.
