Valentine Charity Project

A charity project encourages Sunday school students to share their love with those in need. A simple project that works for any age group is to make homemade Valentine cards. Use paper hearts for the base of the Valentine's that the kids can decorate with different art supplies. Deliver the cards to members of the congregation with family, residents of a local nursing home or to a children's hospital. You can also bake and decorate cookies to pass out with the Valentine's cards. Another option is to decorate a donation jar with a Valentine's theme. Use the jar to collect money for a specific charity or use it for a charitable project later in the year.

This Sunday school activity incorporates Bible verses with a love theme. Divide the students into small groups for the challenge. Have the kids search through the Bible for verses that relate to love. Groups of older children who are already familiar with many Bible verses are ideal for this activity. Another option is to give the kids a list of verses, some that relate to love and others that don't. The kids look up the verses and determine if they fit the love theme or not.

Bingo is a quick game easy to adapt to fit your purpose. For Valentine's Day, fill in the squares of the grid with words that relate to the Christian love theme. Ideas for words include love, charity, forgiveness, Jesus, blessing, righteous, patience and kindness. This activity works best for middle elementary and up since the kids need to read the words on the Bingo cards. Play the game like the regular version of bingo.

This craft project makes a fitting wall decoration and focuses on Jesus' love for everyone. Each child needs a large cross cut from paper and four smaller paper hearts. The kids write one letter on each heart to spell out the word "love". They glue the hearts onto the cross in the correct order. Add extra decorations as desired.
