Funny Political Gifts
Politics is a very contentious issue in America. The divide between partisans of the Republican and Democratic parties appears unbridgeable. The only thing that seems to unite the two parties is affection for political humor, though, of course, Republicans and Democrats understand it differently. If your friend is interested in politics, consider presenting him a funny political gift. Ensure, however, that the gift doesn't offend his political sensitivities.
-
Political Affiliation
-
Find out the political affiliation of your friend -- this is extremely important. Many funny political gifts use satire and you do not want to end up presenting a tongue-in-cheek pro-abortion rights car sticker to an anti-abortion activist.
Merchandise with Funny Slogans
-
Give your friend a T-shirt, a tea cup or a car sticker that comes with a funny political joke. Liberal proponents would appreciate captions like, "Tea parties are for little girls with imaginary friends" or "Faux News Channel." Conservative counterparts may appreciate slogans like "I work hard so people on welfare don't have to" or "Yes We Can -- Bankrupt America." Non-partisans' captions would read something like, "I promise not to talk about politics during dinner."

Funny Political Books
-
There are a number of funny political books available on the market. The best-selling books of this genre are collections of "bushisms," or unconventional words, phrases and linguistic errors from speeches of George W. Bush. Other selections include Laura Ingraham's "The Obama Diaries," which skewers President Barack Obama; and, for non-partisans, "Dumbocracy: Adventures with the Loony Left, Rabid Right & Other American Idiots" by Marty Beckerman.
Other Funny Gifts
-
Other funny gifts may include an Obama countdown clock, which would count down the hours, minutes and seconds the president of the U.S. will stay in his office. Obama or Sarah Palin toilet paper would also be a funny gift, though only hardcore political partisans will probably appreciate it. A corkscrew or a nutcracker with a politician's face or body on it may also be appropriate.
