Scholarships for African Americans in Texas
African American students who reside within the state of Texas can apply for financial assistance to help meet the cost of obtaining a college education. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and financial need. The scholarships may be used to pay for tuition, books or other education-related expenses that a student may incur while pursuing a degree.

Dominique and Jacques Casimir Scholarship

College sophomores and juniors can apply for financial assistance from the Dominique and Jacques Casimir Scholarship. The scholarship is open to African American students from Texas. As of the 2009-2010 academic school year, the scholarship awarded $1,500 to two male and two female college students. Applicants must meet or exceed the minimum 2.5 grade point average requirement to be considered. Scholarship funds may be applied to education costs at any college or university within the United States.
Carter and Burgess Scholarship

The Carter and Burgess Scholarship awards financial assistance to African American engineering majors from Fort Worth, Texas. Students from other cities may be considered if there are not enough qualified applicants from the Fort Worth area. The amount of the award varies based on the recipient's need. Applicants must meet or exceed the 2.5 grade point average requirement to be considered for the award.

Alliance Data Scholarship

The Alliance Data Scholarship provides financial aid to students who reside in the Dallas metropolitan area. As of the 2009-2010 academic school year, the scholarship awarded $5,000 to selected winners. The scholarship is available to students who are attending a United Negro College Fund member college or university. Students must meet or exceed the 3.0 grade point average requirement and be able to demonstrate a financial need to be considered.
Dallas Independent School District Scholarship

African American students who graduated from a Dallas Independent School District high school can apply for a scholarship offered by the district's employees. As of the 2009-2010 school year, the scholarship awarded up to $2,500 to selected winners. Applicants must meet or exceed a 2.5 grade point average requirement to be considered for the scholarship. Selected winners must attend a historically black college or university or a United Negro College Fund member college or university.
