Fun Creative High School Fundraising Events

Most high schools hold fundraisers to gain support and financial contributions to various organizations or athletics teams. Because of the high volume of fund-raising events each year, the most creative and fun fundraisers usually generate the most money. So it is always in your best interest to plan an exciting and unique fund-raising event.

  1. Butler Auction

    • A butler auction is a fund-raising event that allows seniors to auction themselves off to be a butler for a day. This type of event is extremely popular with underclassmen because they get to tell the seniors what to do for the day. In addition, because of the auction format of the event, you will never know how much someone is willing to donate for the more sought-after seniors. This type of event is also fun for everyone involved. For example, butlers might have to wear a silly hat or shirt while performing their duties.

    Dance -- A -- Thon

    • A 24 hour dance-a-thon is a great way to raise money while having fun. People can dance alone or as a couple. Ask participants to have family and friends sponsor them to dance for 24 hours. To make the event even more fun, ask people to bring CDs or iPod playlists with their favorite music. A dance-a-thon will require a large venue. Try using the high school gym or contacting a community center. Also, have a small prize for the winners of the dance-a-thon to motivate dancers to keep going.

    Head Shaving

    • Shave the heads of people who are willing to donate. This type of event is popular when raising money for cancer charities. Ask people to donate to have their heads shaved. You can also donate the hair to wig manufacturers that produce wigs for chemotherapy patients. This type of event is also popular since it is extremely cost-effective while helping a good cause. You can even have the principal or a couple of teachers agree to shave their heads if the students reach a certain goal. Students are always willing to donate if they can see their favorite faculty members shave their heads.

    Car Wash

    • Organize students for a car wash during the summer. Play music all day and let the kids have fun. You can even put out some light refreshments for customers while students are washing their cars. Try to increase the number of customers by hosting the event in a parking lot on a busy street. Also, have people hold up signs telling drivers what you are raising money for. If it's a good cause, more people may be willing to stop by.
