Solve the wedding colors problem early so you can finish planning the rest of your wedding day.

You want fuchsia, but your fiance wants hunter green. It can be difficult to agree to disagree on wedding colors. However, over the years the wedding industry has developed tools to help you coordinate colors that will be aesthetically pleasing to you, your future spouse and your guests. Do not argue with your fiance about wedding colors, but let these wedding tools end the debate. Once you both see the colors together online or on paper, you both will have a visual of what your perfect day could be.

  1. Fabric Swatches

    • When you are deciding on wedding colors, use fabric swatches to help you imagine the colors together. Plum and mango are great colors together in theory, but when you actually see them together it may be another story. Also, seeing the colors in fabric swatches instead of as bridesmaids dresses will save you a lot of time and money. Paint swatches will work as well.

    The Color Wheel

    • Go back to your elementary art class and use your color wheel to help you select complementary wedding colors. Agree with your fiance on a color to start with, then find its opposite on the wheel. Experiment with other colors and find their complements. Continue until you both can agree on the colors.

    Wedding Planning Programs

    • Wedding planning software will give you a visual of colors that you select within the program. It can save different selections and color combinations so later you can share them with your fiance. My Style Wedding and My Perfect Wedding are examples of software you can use to help you plan your wedding day.

    Wedding Magazines

    • Wedding magazines are the faithful and true tool for selecting wedding colors. Not only can you see colors paired together, but also wedding magazines are aware of trends in the wedding industry. This will ensure you love your wedding colors on your big day, and also when you look back at your photos.
