Coffee stations are a gathering place in the office where workers often take a break. Coffee stations can be very bare-bones, providing simply coffee and some cups, or can be a little more elaborate and include other items, such as flavorings and snacks.

The Money Jar

There may not be a line item in the company budget for the coffee station. Therefore it is incumbent upon the employees to purchase items for the coffee station. One way to defray the cost of the coffee station is to place a jar out for loose change. At the end of each week or month, have the person in charge of the coffee station use that money to buy new supplies. Also, suggest that someone lock up the loose change jar at the end of each evening.

Scones, Muffins and Donuts

Coffee is often enjoyed with a sweet snack such as scones, muffins or donuts. Assign someone to be in charge of picking up pastries each day. If there is no assistant to perform this task, rotate it among the people who use the coffee station. Also, consider purchasing packaged scones, donuts and muffins, which have a longer shelf-life and will not get stale after a day.

Multiple Coffee Dispensers

Purchase multiple coffee dispensers for the coffee station. This will allow people to sample different varieties of coffee, such as hazelnut or French vanilla. Also, be sure to provide decaffeinated coffee.

Flavored Syrup

Flavored syrups can add a distinct flavor to any coffee. Flavor choices include caramel, vanilla, chocolate and macadamia nut, among others.

Espresso and Cappuccino Maker

For the die-hard coffee lovers in the office, add an espresso and cappuccino maker to the coffee station. This will change the coffee station from average to gourmet.

Mini-Fridge

Provide a mini-fridge for the coffee station to keep cream and milk products cold nearby. You can even keep other items such as whipped cream and extra coffee beans in the fridge as well.
