The Types of Replacement Strings for Weed Eaters

Weed Eaters are a brand-name line of string trimmers, or weed trimmers, which Husqvarna Outdoor Products manufactures along-side its Poulan and Poulan Pro product line. As you use a Weed Eater, its plastic cutting string gradually wears away, which is why there is a mechanism for releasing more string. However, eventually this store of string, which is wrapped on a spool, will become depleted. Fortunately, Husqvarna produces replacement string spools, which are specially designed for Weed Eaters.

0.065 Inch, 20 Feet

While 0.065 inch refers to the thickness of this type of Weed Eater replacement string, 20 feet refers to the length of the string that is wrapped around the spool. Husqvarna produces only one replacement package with these specifications: the Tap N' Go IV, which is part no. 52-711527. The string is compatible with Weed Eater models EL 8, 9 and 10; F'Lite Plus, 20 and SST; Handystik and Handystik Lite; Wild Thing; XT 25 and 200; and YM600.

0.065 Inch, 30 Feet

Two different spools are available for Weed Eaters requiring 0.065-inch, 30-foot strings: the Tap N' Go Small Electric, part no. 952-701521 and the Tap N' Go C R.H, part no. 952-701663. While the Small Electric is compatible with Weed Eater models TE 30 and 31; XT 10 and 12; and 409, 428, 429, 1208, 1209, 1210 and 1212, the C R.H. is compatible with models SG 10, 12, 14 and 15; TE 12, 14, 15, 35, 40, 44, 45; XT 110, 112, 114 and 115; and RT 10, 110, 112 and 112C.

0.065 Inch, 50 Feet

There is one Weed Eater string spool available in the 0.065-inch, 50-foot format: the Tap N' Go Large electric, part no. 952-701519. The string-and-spool is compatible with the Weed Eater XT 14 as well as with the Weed Eater 509, 807 and 1214.

0.080 Inch, 25 Feet

A thicker and more durable string, the 0.080-inch, 25-foot Weed Eater replacement string type comes in five different formats: the Tap N' Go V R.G, product no. 952-701678, which is compatible with Twist'n Edge; UltraTrim; and XT 35, 55 and 300 Weed Eater trimmer models, as well as the Tap N' Go V R.H, product no. 952-711594, which is compatible with F'Lite LE and PlusLE; and TE 400, 400LE and 450LE models.

0.080 Inch, 40 Feet

The 0.080-inch, 40-foot replacement Weed Eater strings are available in three different formats: the Tap N' Go I L.H, part no. 952-701589, which is compatible with Weed Eater models BC 24W and 30B; GTI 19T; HP30SBP; TBC57; XR105; XT 125KT and 125T; and YP140, as well as the Tap N' Go II Dual Exit, part no. 952-711564, which is compatible with the Weed Eater BC3100.
