Jewel Cave is one of the most breathtaking and stunning natural treasures in the United States. It has the second-longest cave in the world and more than 150 miles of passageways. Jewel Cave was named for the abundance of calcite crystals that sparkle and was established as a national monument in 1908. Jewel Cave is less than 15 minutes from Custer, South Dakota, where there are several restaurants. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Legion Lake Lodge

    • A deli, bakery and burger shop are found at the quaint Legion Lake Lodge, only 14 miles from Jewel Cave. Hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, salads, baked goods and beverages are served in an interior with tables sporting red-and-white-checkered table clothes. Outside is a deck overlooking the lake and great scenery. Takeout service is available. Free WI-Fi Internet access is available for all customers.

    Bavarian Inn

    • The Black Hills of Custer surround the Bavarian Inn hotel and restaurant. Two stone fireplaces create a soothing atmosphere in this mountain lodge setting. Bavarian specialties, including succulent steaks, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads and delicious desserts, are on the menu. A special children's menu is available for the littlest guests. Bavarian Inn has a bar with a large selection of imported and domestic beer, wine and spirits.

    Blue Bell Lodge

    • The Blue Bell Lodge is a hideaway retreat in Custer. Comfort, fun and a complete Western experience await each customer. The ranch house dining hall offers hearty fare, including steaks, buffalo and trout for those who want a sit-down dinner. A highlight of Blue Bell Lodge is the chuck wagon cookout and hayride, where guests go on an exciting trip, with a meal and Western entertainment.

    Circle B Ranch Chuckwagon

    • With its old-fashioned Western atmosphere, Circle B Ranch Chuckwagon is sure to be a memorable experience. The Old West town has a gift shop, woodcarver shop, Stage Stop and the Chuckwagon Barn. Dinner begins with an entertaining gun shoot out and offers beef, buffalo, chicken and delicious cowboy fixings. The Stage Stop has lunch items, such as barbecue sandwiches, nachos with beef, buffalo or chicken, hot dogs, desserts and refreshing beverages.
