After seeing adult family members cook or watching renowned chefs showcase their talents on television, kids may develop an interest in becoming a great chef themselves when they grow up. Kids can play a variety of chef games to gain some early experience preparing meals and serving customers in an efficient, timely manner.

Chef Toss

Big Bruce tries to keep his food away from unwelcome guests in "Chef Toss," accessible at sites like Kewlbox. At the Omaha Steaks Cook Off, kids click on pop-up characters, leaving Big Bruce to toss food into characters' mouths. While kids score points for feeding humans (with points dependent on the steak type), they receive strikes for feeding animals. Players must feed at least five guests to advance to the next level. The game ends if players receive three strikes.

As a hard-working cook overseeing a restaurant in Port'Abello, kids work their way up the culinary ladder in Zoo Games' "Order Up!" available for the Nintendo Wii platform. Kids prepare customer orders as quickly and efficiently as possible, and receive larger tips for well-prepared meals and speedy service. With a sufficient amount of funds, players may purchase restaurant upgrades and new restaurants throughout the game.

Kids gain chef experience with Play World's "The Sneaky Chef Cooking Academy" activity sets, recommended for ages 8 and up. With adult supervision, kids use recipes and utensils from the sets to make a variety of meals. Kids either work cooperatively on meals or engage in competitions in which an adult judges the kids on their ability to follow directions, their speed in preparing and serving a meal, and cleanliness of their cooking area. Kits include "Rise & Shine Breakfasts," "Lotsa Pasta," "Meat Me For Dinner," "Momma Mia Pizzeria," "More Cheese Please" and "Sweet Treat Eats."
World Class Chef games

Chef Pinky takes kids on a global cooking tour in the "World Class Chef" games, accessible at sites like Games2Girls. Kids learn how to cook dishes from countries such as Belgium, Greece, India, Italy and Japan. Using their mouse to click on ingredients and utensils in each game, kids follow directions and score points for chopping ingredients and pouring liquids, among other tasks. Games2Girls also features several "World Class Chef" games that focus on making soup.

Kids learn and prepare sushi recipes in "Youda Sushi Chef," accessible at sites like Youda Games. To see how to make a particular dish, kids click the sushi recipe book. After clicking on ingredients to make meals, kids click on the meal to roll it into sushi. If players run low on ingredients, they click the telephone to order more. As customers wait, players click the knife and perform knife tricks. Customers leave the restaurant if they wait too long for an order.
