NABJ Scholarships for Black Journalists
The National Association of Black Journalists, NABJ, works to promote diversity within the media. The organization awards more than $60,000 in scholarships each year to black students who plan to pursue a career in journalism. Scholarships are given only to student members of the organization. Previous winners of NABJ scholarships are not eligible to apply for another award.

Visual Task Force Scholarship

The Visual Task Force Scholarship provides financial assistance to students majoring in visual journalism. As of the 2010-2011 school year, this NABJ scholarship provided up to $1,250 to selected students who met or exceeded the 2.75 grade-point-average requirement. Students must attend a four-year college or university and have experience working for the campus newspaper or television studio. Students also must participate in an internship to apply.
Carole Simpson Scholarship

Students who intend to pursue a career in broadcast journalism can apply for assistance from NABJ's Carole Simpson Scholarship. As of the 2010-2011 academic year, the scholarship awarded up to $2,500 to selected students. This scholarship is open to students with at least one full year remaining in college. Students must be able to demonstrate an ambition to excel. The scholarship is offered through a joint partnership with the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Larry Whiteside Scholarship

The Larry Whiteside Scholarship is available to students who plan a career in sports journalism. As of the 2010-2011 academic school year, the award offered up to $2,500 to selected students. Students must work either on- or off-campus for some type of media. Students must meet or exceed a 2.5 GPA requirement to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship is open to students who are currently enrolled in a college or university.
Allison E. Fisher Scholarship

The Allison E. Fisher Scholarship is open to any U.S. or foreign student who is majoring in print journalism, photography or radio and television. As of the 2010-2011 school year, the scholarship provided up to $2,500 in education funds. The scholarship is open to students who are attending a four-year university. Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program during the year the scholarship is awarded.
