Teenage Geek Tips on Dating
At one time, the definition of a geek may have included the words nerdy, socially inept and possibly, outcast. That definition has changed over the past few decades thanks to computers and technology. Nowadays, you might describe a geek as someone who is a computer enthusiast or expert. Due to the amount of time that most geeks spend at their computers, perhaps because they prefer spending time in their alternative world rather then the real one, socializing still presents a challenge. For this reason, many teenage geeks are open to dating tips.

Be Yourself and Like Yourself
-
You can't expect your date to like you until you like yourself, and that's no easy feat for anyone in high school. Being comfortable with who you are will give you the confidence you need to begin dating. Once you have a date, don't compromise who you are for that person .If you are a geek, chances might be that the person you are dating is one too or at least understands that you march to the beat of a different drum. If you start out pretending to be someone you aren't, it will become too difficult to maintain that façade. And you shouldn't want to anyway. If your destiny is to be with a particular someone, he will appreciate you as well as accept you exactly the way you are and not for who you think you should be.
Be Specific and Direct
-
When asking someone out on a date, you need to be clear with your intentions. Geeks, especially in high school, have a tendency to hang back, observe and perhaps be ambiguous when it comes socializing. If you want to hang out sometime, then that's fine; but if you want to go out on a date, be sure to use the word "date" in your conversation. Otherwise, you might think that you are on a date, but she might just think that you are both hanging out with the crowd.

Pay Attention to Body Language
-
When you are on a date, there are specific signs that you can watch for that can help you to determine if your date is having a good time or searching for the nearest exit. Signals that indicate your date is having a good time include: leaning toward you when engrossed in conversation, maintaining good eye contact, laughing at your jokes and touching you lightly every now and then on the arm, hand or shoulder. Body language that indicates that there might not be a second date include: your date's inability to carry on a smooth conversation because of inattentiveness, glancing up and around the room often, texting often during your date.
Listen More and Talk Less
-
Talking about yourself and your unusual interests might make for less stimulating conversation than you think. On the flip side, people generally like to talk about themselves. Therefore, during your date, keep conversation rolling by asking your date questions. When your date asks you questions, answer them in full sentences but don't go on and on. Remember to be honest about yourself and don't fabricate things that aren't true. Honesty is the best policy.
