McIntosh, Red Delicious and Fuji are among the varieties of apples that can be found at Murphy Orchards in the fall. This 65-acre fruit farm in Burt welcomes guests to pick plums, apples and pears from September through November. Families can spend the day in their orchards and enjoy afternoon tea complete with finger sandwiches and homemade pastries in the orchard's Tea Rooms. Murphy Orchard's guided tours will teach guests about the farm's involvement in the underground railroad. Homemade jams, jellies and salsa can be purchased at the country store.

The Adirondacks offer picturesque autumn views. A weekend trip to the Adirondack Mountains will put the entire family face-to-face with New York's fall foliage. Children can enjoy miniature golf, hot air balloon rides, biking and fishing in the Adirondacks. Queensbury is home to Six Flags Lodge and Indoor Waterpark which welcomes guests to surf, float around their lazy river and zoom down water slides year-round.

Take a seat inside the World's Largest Kaleidoscope at Kaleidoworld in Mount Temper. No road trip through New York is complete without a stop at the World's Largest Kaleidoscope in Mount Temper. This 56-foot restored silo is honored in the Guinness Book of World Records. Padded back and neck rests are provided for guests to lean back and enjoy watching the silo ceiling rotate while music plays throughout the kaleidoscope show.
