What Is the Difference Between the Woodmaster 750 & 7400?
For 18 years the 7400 was the latest model of the Remington Woodmaster rifle, itself a replacement of the 21-year-old 742. Keeping the basic design, that has remained essentially unchanged since the 7400 model, introduced in 1955, the 750 is a modernization of the classic Woodmaster rifle.

Forearm

The most obvious differences between the 750 and the 7400 come in the external appearance. The 750 sports a slightly more modern look, including a forearm that is wider at the bottom than at the top, creating a fluted effect between the two.
Stalk

The 750 has been redesigned from the previous model, and machine-cut checkering is added to both the stalk and the forearm. Exterior surfaces also are now coated in Teflon for smoother, quieter handling, especially under severe environmental conditions.

Sling Swivel

Of the functional differences in the two rifles, the most obvious is the presence of a free-rotating sling swivel stud at the front of the forearm. This stud was not present in the previous model.
Gas System

One of the major improvements in the 750 over the 7400 is the modified gas system under the forearm. Remington claims that the gas vent, closer to the chamber than the piston assembly, will accumulate fewer carbon deposits, and that bolt velocity will be more consistent.
