Those who simply want to learn the basics of horseback riding and equine care can sign up for short-term lessons, and many facilities offer summer camps geared toward young riders. Those who wish to gain more in-depth knowledge can take equestrian courses at certain colleges or even attend private equine institutes.

Schools like French Hill Farm Riding Academy teach students like these how to ride, as well as how to groom their horses. Lessons may be private or as a group, and they usually are held for about one hour once or twice a week. Academies like these also may offer summer camps for children or beginning riders.
