Fun Biology Games for Free
Games can be an aid to the teaching of biology. Utilized either as part of a classroom lesson or played by students at home, biology games help to reinforce scientific concepts, from plant processes to the workings of organs, in a fun manner. Several free biology games are available to play over the Internet and are accessed through the user's Web browser, while others can be downloaded onto a computer for later use.

Plant & Animal Differences
-
This browser game seeks to help kids, of around junior high age, learn about the different classifications of living things. During the game, a conveyor belt sends pictures of mammals, plants, insects and birds across the screen. As each appears, the player must use the mouse to click on each picture in turn and drag it across to the appropriate classification box, situated on the edge of the screen. For example, a penguin should be placed in the bird category.
Biology Hangman
-
The game of Hangman, in which players attempt to guess the mystery word by spelling out its letters one by one, has been given a biology makeover in this Internet variant. All of the words players will encounter are themed around the subject of biology, and so include lungs, mitosis, and osmosis, for example. The player must click on the letters displayed on the screen to make a guess, and can view the status of the hangman -- in this game, a face -- by checking the top right-hand corner of the screen.

MedCity Hospital: Intensive Care
-
This adventure game incorporates both biology quiz and puzzle-solving elements. Set in a hospital infested with disease and monsters, the player controls a doctor who must help his patients while avoiding various dangers. The player controls his character using the keyboard directional buttons. The aim is to reach the patients lying in the hospital beds; the player can use the objects around the levels to get access to these patients. To help a patient, the player must answer a few questions relating to medicine by moving his character around the switches in the center of each level, which correspond to the choices of answers to each question. Once these questions have been answered correctly, the player can proceed to the next stage.
Immune Attack
-
This downloadable title was designed by the Federation of American Scientists, and was developed as an accompaniment to in-classroom learning, with the idea being that teachers download the game to enhance the learning experience for students. The game places players in the role of a nanobot, a tiny robot, on a mission deep inside the immune system of a human. On the way to helping the human, the player learns about immunology topics such as white blood cells.
