Dora's Mermaid Adventure

The Nick Jr. website offers Dora's Mermaid Adventure, a free online game that is appropriate for kids from 4 to 6. The website claims that the game improves eye-hand coordination while teaching about the benefits of taking care of the environment. Dora swims through the Mermaid Kingdom, saving creatures by vacuuming trash off them. Suck up enough plastic rings, tires and wrappers and Dora turns into a mermaid and gets to give a crown to Mariana the Mermaid.
Dora Saves the Mermaids

Released in 2007, this game-console game is available in Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii and DS formats. Dora and Boots must save the mermaids by cleaning up the Mermaid Kingdom and defeating a mean, trash-spewing octopus. Dora magically turns into a mermaid during the game and works to clean up the land and sea to return the mermaid crown to Mariana.

Print a Dora Mermaid crown and bracelet or a Dora Mermaid activity book from the Nick Jr. website. Each printable sheet comes with instructions for decoration and assembly.
Party Games

Adapt established party games and play them with a Dora mermaid twist. Play Musical Mermaids instead of musical chairs. Play music from the Dora television show and direct the participants to dance like a mermaid or swim while the music plays. When the music stops, each mermaid must find a chair. Remove one chair and resume the music. Continue until one one mermaid remains. Award her a mermaid crown.
Play Pin the Mermaid Crown on Dora. Locate and enlarge a printable picture of Dora as a mermaid and enlarge it on a poster board or large piece of paper. Print a mermaid crown from the Nick Jr. website. Blindfold participants and allow them to take turns trying to pin or tape the crown on Dora's head.
