In order to improve the environment and help individuals save money on monthly expenses, toilet companies have started manufacturing water efficient toilets. GreenandSave.com offers a list of some of the most water efficient toilets on the market as of 2011. All the water saving toilets qualify as high-efficiency toilets (HET) and are certified through the EPA WaterSense program. Toilets that are considered water efficient have a gallons per flush (gpf) of 1.6 or lower. According to GreenHomeGuide.com, switching from a 3.5 gpf to a 1.6 gpf reduces annual water usage 15,000 gallons. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. American Standard

    • The American Standard Compact Cadet 3 FlowWise toilet comes in one piece and has an elongated front bowl design. The toilet has a 1.28 gpf and features an EverClean feature that inhibits growth of stains, odors, bacteria, mold and mildew. As of 2011, the cost of the American Standard toilet is about $390.

    Kohler

    • The Kohler Cimarron Comfort Height toilet has a 1.28 gpf, along with a Class Six technology that ensures bulk flushing and bowl cleanliness. The toilet is designed to save up to 16,500 gallons of water per year, as compared to a 3.5 gpf toilet. A canister flush valve ensures consistent water usage after each flush. As of 2011, the price of the toilet is about $260.

    Gerber

    • The Gerber DF-21-318 Ultra Flush Toilet is a water saving toilet that features an insulated tank, non-corrosive solid brass bolts, brass lever and Sloan Flushmate pressure vessel. Dimensions of the toilet are 30-by-20-by-29 inches, and the toilet weighs 94 pounds. The toilet comes in two pieces and has a 1.6 gpf. As of 2011, the Gerber toilet costs $410. A toilet seat is not included with this model.

    Mansfield

    • The Mansfield EcoQuantum 148-119 toilet features dual-flush technology, along with one-flush performance system. The water-saving toilet has 1.6 gpf with a water surface area of 10-by-12 inches. The toilet comes in a white color and features a chrome handle. As of 2011, the price of the toilet is about $460 and comes with a five-year warranty.
