Located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley is Dinosaur Land, a park with large dinosaur replicas. Dinosaur Land is set-up like an outside museum, with exhibits outside. There are 34 full-scale replica dinosaurs to explore at the park and is an ideal day trip for families in the Shenandoah Valley area. The park is suitable for children of all ages and is open to hosting birthday parties as long as you call ahead.
King's Dominion

Kings Dominion is a seasonal theme park that opens during the spring and summer months. The theme park has many rides such as 15 roller coasters, Ferris wheels, carousels and a water park for the whole family. There are also live music and theater-type shows on a regular basis at the park, like "Charlie Brown's Hoedown" and "Pulse," a show featuring pop acts. You can stop in for a day or buy a season's pass, providing unlimited entries.

The Bug Box is a zoo specially designed to house and display different types of insects. There are live scorpions, spiders, giant millipedes, hissing cockroaches and other insects to explore within the Bug Box. The zoo is split up into differently themed areas, such as the Forest Habitat or the Swamp Habitat to provide children and parents with information on where each species lives in the wild.
