Specifications for Scout Boats

Scout Boats is an American boat company founded in 1988. Scout boasts a line of large and small boats made without any type of wood. The company, owned and run by a husband and wife, provides specifications for all current models of Scout boats, including the Abaco Series, Bay Scout, Dorado and Sportfish models.

  • Scout makes sure to provide specifications regarding dimensions for all its boats. For example, the 350 Abaco Series has a length of 38 feet 10 inches, or 35 feet 10 inches without a pulpit. The company also provides beam length, which is 11 feet 11 inches for the aforementioned boat. Scout gives the dry weight for its boats, as well. For example, the dry weight of the 201 Bay Scout without engines is approximately 1,600 pounds.

  • The fuel capacity of a boat is a common specification detail. The 222 Dorado has a fuel capacity of 90 gallons, while the 222 Sportfish can carry up to 100 gallons of fuel. Some Scout boats come with water capacity specifications, like the 350 Abaco Series, which can carry 60 gallons of water. Its holding tank can hold 21 gallons, while the hot water heater can hold 11 gallons. Other boats have person capacity specifications, like the 222 Dorado, which can hold 10 people.

  • Scout gives buyers and users engine specifications like horsepower. The company gives its recommended horsepower as well as the maximum horsepower. Sometimes these specifications are the same; for example, the 350 Abaco Series has a recommended horsepower and maximum horsepower of 700. The 222 Dorado, on the other hand, has a recommended horsepower of 150 or 225, while the maximum horsepower is 250.

Other Specifications

  • For the larger boats, like the Abaco series, cockpit specifications are provided. The 350 Abaco Series has a cockpit size of 85 square feet, a cockpit depth of 28 inches, as well as specifications for cockpit bait well, fish boxes, cooler and freezer box. Other specifications include air conditioner power in BTU, approximate bridge clearance, helm coolers, draft and deadrise.
