NASCAR Track Tours

If you're a fan of NASCAR stock car racing, you may enjoy watching the sport on television each weekend during the season. If you're a die hard fan, you may visit one or two tracks each season to watch a race live. If this is the case, taking part in a track tour will allow you to get the full NASCAR experience. With a guided or self-guided tour, you'll be able to walk through areas that are otherwise off limits to the public and see the inner workings of the sport firsthand.

  1. Self-Guided Tours

    • If you're attending a NASCAR race, you have the option of purchasing pit road and garage passes in addition to your ticket for the race. With a pit road or garage lanyard hanging around your neck, you'll have access to designated areas prior to the race. You'll get to walk along pit road itself and watch the race's 43 crews set up and prepare for the start of the race. With a garage pass, you'll get to see teams working on their cars furiously prior to each race and may even get a chance to meet a driver.

    Guided Tours

    • NASCAR tracks such as Daytona International Speedway offer guided tours for fans who want to see areas the public can normally only dream of seeing. These tours often take fans to the garage and pit areas, victory lane, the drivers' meeting room, press box and more. At Daytona, the largest and most celebrated NASCAR track, these hour-long tours take place daily between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

    VIP Tours

    • If you've got the money to spend and have enough people interested in a larger, more comprehensive tour, tracks such as Daytona offer VIP tours. These three-hour tours will take you and your group behind the scenes and can be catered to what you wish to see. They're available only by advanced reservation and are priced according to what you want the tour to include. These tours are ideal if you wish the tour to be conducted strictly for you and your group.

    Tour/Travel Packages

    • Some travel companies offer NASCAR road trips that also include track tours. Typically, these packages are one price for transportation to the track, accommodation on race weekend and a tour. This tour may be led by a track staff member or one of the company's tour guides and are designed to give fans the best experience possible, including a trip to the pit road area.
